The project brief was the installation of new luxury vinyl tile (LVT) flooring in the clothing retailer Matalan’s Milton Keynes store. This was to be installed on nights over a five-week period to allow the store to continue its daily trading.
After several meetings with Matalan and Karndean on site, a decision was made to proceed with Karndean looselay stone effect flooring, as this can be fitted quickly during closing hours. Its flexible format also allowed for partial area refitting – a major advantage over flooring supplied in sheets or rolls.
Another factor for using this type of flooring (and possibly the most important) is its ability to be installed over existing hard flooring surfaces, eliminating the need for removal of the existing flooring and subsequent application of smoothing compounds. This reduced the project’s installation time from five weeks to three.
